Today was our day off. We spent it with Mr Slade, in the South-East Cape Breton Island. Retired electrician by trade, maker extraordinaire at heart. We spent the day talking about his many projects and passions. Tinkering with RC planes and cars, networking, satellite communications…
It was a precious moment with a Maker in a place where there’s no Fab Labs. Because Canada is a very large country, what would it take to have Labs all across the place? Even in remote areas? Where a man like Robert would likely love to share is passion and knowledge in a local Fab Lab? That’s an important question to ask. How can an interstructure of Fab Labs, makerspaces and similarly oriented spaces could help setup projects like theses where there is not already strong community support and awareness. Do you have ideas?
